Looking for a way to keep your garden lively all the time with
colorful, chirping birds ? Well then, it's time to get a bird feeder.
You can leave your bird feeder outside the whole year, for the birds
know when to migrate and when not to. Location is very important
when placing a bird feeder if you want to minimize the mess and
hassle. Also you need to take into consideration the weather conditions
where you live. Then think about the types of birds you wish to
attract. If you want different types of birds in your garden then
it'd be best to keep a cluster of bird feeders.
Window feeders may be a good choice for not only does it help keep
the seeds dry, but will also give you the best viewing place. Tube
bird feeders are economical and the best to dispense a variety of
seeds. Domed feeders offer some protection from the elements but
might restrict the types of birds. Platform bird feeders are considered
a hygienic means of dispensing seed to ground feeding birds and
humming bird feeders come in a variety of styles and are one of
the most popular. Sunflower seeds, millet, corn and peanuts are
some of the treats your visitors will enjoy. In winter suet is ideal.
Humming birds will love it if you place nectar out for them, but
make sure to change it every two days in summer.
Keeping the area clean is also essential. Wild birds can contract
disease from an ill-maintained feeder. A weekly cleaning should
help do away with this problem. Damp seed and bird droppings are
an ideal breeding ground for diseases such as salmonella. cleansing
with a mild soap solution and diluted bleach spray can diminish
the risks to a great extent. It is not a good idea to keep your
bird feeder near a bird bath of the bath can get contaminated easily.
