Polar Bears

Polar bears are one of the most fascinating types of bears in the world. You have probably seen quite a few at your local zoo, but you are missing out on the most important part of the polar bears experience. The way that they live, eat, and hunt makes them what they are, and polar bear tours in the arctic are a great way to become one with these majestic creatures.

There are basically two different types of polar bear vacations available to the general public. The first are cruise type polar bear tours. These are usually at least a week in length and you will spend your time touring the coast of artic areas. You will have the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the polar bear from afar, allowing both of you the safety that is so very important in this type of trip. In addition to the polar bear viewing, you will also be treated to gourmet meals and all of the luxuries.

The second type of polar bear tours has a more hands on approach. Touring parties are assembled and the viewers are able to get up close and personal with the bears themselves. There is a certain risk involved, with is the main reason that many people undergo these types of tours. Be prepared to pack warmly and brave the wild outdoors.

There are several different areas of the world that specialize in polar bear tours. The most popular is Canada and Alaska. Churchill polar bear tours are based in Churchill, Manitoba. A typical week long trip costs about $4000 Canadian.

Alaska is another polar bear tour hot spot with Tundra Buggy. These trips tend to be about $1300 a person and they allow for large groups of tourists. If you are looking for a rugged, outdoorsy trip, Alaska may be the route to go for you.

When finding a polar bear tour to fit your needs, make sure to factor in weather and the number of people attending. The polar bear environment is very cold and harsh, so you will want to make sure to dress appropriately. Ski attire and multiple layers are both excellent choices. The amount of people that are in your group, also play a huge role in your trip experience. The more people that go with you, the better deal you can usually get. Plus you have friends and family to share the experience with.
